Between the race for treatments, vaccines and the ever-changing social restrictions associated with the COVID-19 outbreak, the human story can often get lost.

In May, CGTN Europe went to Madrid to speak to the Soleto family about their struggles during the pandemic.

They spoke of the economic impact of the coronavirus and the challenges of providing for young family when your industry has been shut down.

Six months later we went back to Madrid, that was again in the midst of a partial lockdown, to speak to Marta Avello. Her one-year-old, Eva, has experienced a majority of her life with her parents managing the threat of the virus.

'It will also be confusing for her when we finally remove our masks and she can see people's faces again'
Marta Avello

Marta told us that, while her daughter's age means she has little understanding of what's going on during the outbreak, she worries her isolation will mean she misses out on valuable social development.
