Siqi Jia is an international student from China studying at Glasgow University. She is one of hundreds of thousands of international students who will now be able to live and work in the UK post-studies.

And that’s because of the graduate route scheme, a visa option that allows students to stay in the UK for two years after studying, instead of the six months they used to to be allotted.

The visa was in the works for years before the divorce deal, but the UK government has stated that it will now be part of its new points-based immigration system.
